I got a generic bluetooth off ebay...and win7 does not seem to recognize it.
It may even say device is ready...but it really is not. I've tried to uninstall it, and reinstall the win drivers and not help. When I do a search for device, it just sits there and does not find "anything". When I unplut and plug back in device, it says it's ready. I've restarted pc. Please any help would be appreciated. Assuming you're speaking of a generic USB bluetooth dongle. Have you checked the bluetooth settings for the device in Control Panel?

part of the problem, is that it is sometimes listed, and sometimes not listed. when it "was" under devices and printers i didn't see anyway of controlling the device, pairing it, accepting it, or anything. On my phone, it will sometimes show the device...when I go to say send a file from phone to pc, it asks for a passcode, which i enter 0000, it then says fail to connect. This is not the phones issue. Windos is not detecting the device.

Have you tried another USB port? Also check settings in Device Manager, settings related to both the USB port as well as the bluetooth device.

It may be PnP, but w7 is likely going to treat it as a new "network".
