So I was just starting to love libraries in Windows 7 and decided I'd setup WMP on my media server, and now I'm stuck. I can't create new libraries in WMP, WMP won't recognize any folders with video that I add to the "Recorded TV" library, and WMP won't use my Windows 7 libraries. On top of that, media center doesn't pull from my Windows 7 or WMP libraries, and there isn't an option to tell it to do so.

Why the hell aren't these three systems connected in some way? Why the hell can't I create new libraries in WMP. That seems like a no-brainer to me, maybe my install is just f'ed up.

In WMP, go to File > Manage Libraries and include what you want.

I realize I can include files into the four libraries already there (Pictures, Music, Videos, and Recorded TV), except for Recorded TV, which won't recognize the videos in the folders I include. I want to create NEW libraries (Eg, a "Movies" library or an "Audio Books" library).

I am not sure, but my assumption would be that you have to create those new libraries under Libraries first and then you can work with them from WMP - as I said, that is just my guess.

Yeah well that's my main complaint, WMP won't take libraries from 7, it's retarded.

Huh? Just drag and drop whatever media files or folders you want to share into your WMP and it will automatically add it to it's library. Then you can access it from any other WMP connected to your network.

Yeah I get that, but what if I want to create a new library other than the four default available ones for organizational purposes (makes it more convenient to browse in extenders)? Also nothing will show up in the Recorded TV library. Am I really this bad at communicating the problem?

Wow, yeah, I got that. I can create plenty of Windows 7 libraries, no problem. The problem is getting them to show up in WMP, because Microsoft is retarded and apparently didn't think that was necessary.

I can explain you what I have done to show the library elements in WMP.
I opened Media Center, entered in Picture\Music\Movies, right click there and selected "manage library" ---> add folder to library --> on this computer ---> next ... and browse and add files. Then all the libraries are automatically created; in all places... in media center, in explorer library and in windows media player, too.
