Library will not accept folder on flash drive

When I try to include a folder on USB flash drive, I get message "This folder cannot be included because it is on a removable device

Only if the device appears in the navigation pane, under Computer, in the Hard Disk Drives section. This is set by the device manufacturer, and in some cases, it can be changed. Contact your manufacturer for more information.
I contacted 2 Manuufacturer but do not understand problem/not able to advise which of their products will appear in HDD section

Is there a way to
1. make removable device appear in HDD section
2. include folder in libraries which are on removable USB flash drive
