havent tried what barty said to yet, no there were no problems chev it passed the sfc scan, it has microsoft security essentials, and there are several other machines on the network preforming without a problem.
With the original problem being with the registry that leads me to believe there are other problems with the registry which are causing the connection problems with both wireless and wired.
There is no realistic method for fixing a corrupted registry because you have no idea which keys might be missing or corrupted. I won't get into the fact that something has already messed with the registry on this machine. Messed up registry = unfixable problems.
Best bet in this case is to perform either a system restore or a repair install.
