Hi everyone,
I have Windows 7 Home Premium on Drive C and Windows 8.1 Pro on Drive D, both x64. Is there any way I can boot to Drive D (Win8) from within (Win7 desktop) on Drive C? Or even switch drives via a j link. This may well be a question that needs to be put on the Win8 Forum as well as here.

I know I can choose Win 8 or Win 7 on the boot choice menu where Win 7 boots by default after 5 seconds; this is how I access Win 8 if I'm quick enough! I have a work around in the opposite direction from Win 8 where I have a Restart button on the desktop hiding under a nice Win7 icon. On the Win7 desktop I have a link to My Computer screen and Drive D where I can access all the files and move files back and forth between drives, but I can't actually boot Win8 from Win 7...Or can I? If any of you
knowledgeable guys can put me wise I would be grateful.

Before anyone asks why... I installed Windows 8 as a trial on Drive D and decided like many others that it was not for me. Win 8.1 is now the repository for my 7 year old son's games and videos...He loves it!

Is the setting in msconfig and the Boot tab set for 5 seconds? Default is for 30 seconds. Maybe there's a BIOS setting that can be changed?

Windows has to boot to its own installation, have never seen it possible otherwise but someone will probably say differently. Same for mixes of Operating Systems such as with Linux and Windows.

A must have for any dual boot is EasyBCD where you can change the timing and anything else concerning boot up.
