Link problem

My links have stopped working on certain parts of my igoogle homepage.
I get a box appearing just above the status bar saying something about
Microsoft has stopped certain actions to prevent cross-scripting or something of the sort..

Any ideas how to remedy this ?

I have now moved to Firefox until this is resolved.

You'll have to disable the XSS filter go to internet options & select the security tab > Custom Level then scroll down to the bottom & disable the XXS filter.
You should watch this video first as its a big security risk.
If you do disable it I would advise renabling it for sites like your bank or Paypal or better still use another browser for sensitive sites

I have disabled the xxs filter, doesn't appear to have cured the problem, still can't get some links to work. My iGoogle homepage tabs and links seem to be ok but if I move to other google tab pages behind my iGoogle homepage they are not working. I still get the cross site scripting error message even with xxs disabled. I did do a restart on my IE9.

Furthermore it wouldn't play the video either..

Reinstalled ie9 - didn't help

It is strange that this is only affecting IE... The problem must be in IE itself-- or since you have reinstalled, rather, something on your computer affecting IE. Have you run an anti-virus scan since this began?

I use MS Security Essentials.
Run scan, nothing picked up.

How can I install a previous version of IE?
I have tried but it says a newer version is already installed and closes down.

I can't find an uninstall button, so how do I get rid of this version?

IE9 is considered an update Open Control Panel >Programs >Programs & Features>view installed updates scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section select IE9 & uninstall.
You have to restart your PC & you'll have IE8 instead.

Ok stve, thanx for that bit of info, it cured the problem. All links now working ok in IE8.

Glad you got it figured out.

You should still upgrade to IE9, as it is safer than IE8. But since something apparently went wrong with the installation last time, you should re-download it. Internet Explorer downloads - Microsoft Windows Make sure you have restarted from installing IE8, and close all other applications to ensure it can run smoothly.

Did the reinstall of ie9 and the problem came back so will stick with ie8 for now thanx...

I've been looking around about this problem for a while now, and I did turn up this old post: http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/133501-problem-ie9.html#post1148881

IE8 isn't blocking iGoogle because it simply isn't realizing those potential security holes, but IE9 is. If this were a truly threatening site, it would get past IE8, but not 9. As cluberti explains, adding iGoogle as a trusted site will allow these less secure items to run, but only for the iGoogle site. It's a matter of essential web safety.

It won't accept iGoogle into trusted sites unless it is "https".. (see screenshot)
