Linking to other sites

If forum rules restrict linking how does one provide updates or improvments without linking, as in Drivers

Hello Biker,

The forum rules are inplace to prevent spamming, and unnecessarily redirecting to other sites.

As for drivers, posting links to the manufacturer's (source) driver download page for a device is fine. Posting links to some 3rd party driver site unrelated to the manufacturer, or some file hosting site, is not permitted since these are usually questionable locations to download such files from.

what if the other site has a better fix the the source site, this has happen because source site doesn't always keep up with fixes, much like MS.

Sorry, but no. The device manufacturer's website should have the latest driver since they are the one's that made the device.

For example, if you have a OEM computer (ex: Dell), then posting a driver from say the audio chip manufacturer's (ex: Realtek) site instead of from the OEM computer's website is fine. Getting the driver directly from the specific device manufacturer is better than the OEM since they are more up to date.

We do not want driver download links to unknown and/or suspicious sites posted here. Manufacturer, affiliated site of the manufacturer, or bust.
