Hi all,

New to this forum but not to computers or gaming...

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I think that's where the problem lies. Links 2003 doesn't recognize the video driver and runs in software render mode. This of course limits the resolution options, but more importantly, it causes the game to crash. Some courses will play all the way through without a problem, but some courses will crash back to the desktop. If a course does crash, then it will ALWAYS crash at the same place (but a different place on each course).

Video card is BFG GeForce 9800GT OC and I'm using the driver that Windows loaded. FarCry (the first one), Serious Sam 2 and Borderlands work fine.

Links 2003 works great on my Toshiba laptop with Win7 32-bit (bought the family pack).

I'm considering putting a different HDD in this machine and installing Win7 32-bit to see if that works.

I have tried the different compatibility modes, it makes no difference.

Any suggestions?

Kent

Links 2003 has a lot of issues with nvidia cards. There are some patches and a lot of comments on links corner (linkscorner.org). It appears that some of the older drivers work better with this game.

I appreciate the reply, greeman. I'd nearly forgotten about this post and have in fact found the solution on links corner a few months ago. There's a patch labeled links2k3_nvidia_win7_FINAL.exe that cured the problem.

I now have full resolution (1920x1080) in the correct aspect ratio and so far no crashes.
