Solved Liteon optical drive not burning

Hi all,
Another problem so back to the gurus here!!!
My LG DVD burner died so I buried it down the back with my old dog and bought a Liteon iHAS524-T07 DU.
I have been using ConvertXto DVD to convert movies and burn them to DVD+RW media. This program even formats the disc prior to burning so saves a lot of messing about.
Now the bugger!!! This liteon will not burn to my DVD+RW discs. Put in a DVD-R and no problem.
Is there a workaround or solution? Is there another burner which will do what I want? It's been great using the DVD+RW's, saves money on media so I'd like to keep doing that. Ta for any help

Either that burner doesn't like the brand of DVD+RW disc you're trying to burn (meaning try another brand) or the burner itself is defective (meaning RMA it).

I concur ^.
Optical burners are real touchy about the quality of disks and the formats. And with so many formats it makes the entire optical disk system not as reliable as it ought to be.

That is one of the reasons why we will soon find optical drives in the hole with the dog, floppy disks, and CRT monitors.

I've had a couple of LiteOn drives die early deaths, but they worked OK while they lived.

The drive that you list supports DVD+RW and DVD-RW, so it ought to work.

I mostly use a TSST (Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology) drive, but I seldom use DVD±RW or DVD-RAM . (I've tested both, though, and both work.) The drive was around $20US, so if it gave me trouble, it'd go in the electronics recycling bin. Wouldn't be worth paying to ship it back.

Thanks for the input blokes.....now let's throw a curve ball.
In frustration I installed another burner I had laying around with the same result...it will not burn to a DVD+RW but will burn a DVD-R no problem. Hmmmm, methinks try another burner so I borrow two more and try them both...Bugger me, same deal nfg!!!
Why would it be that all was well previously, I could burn to any disc with ConvertxtoDVD or imgburn or whatever, then I replace the burner and now even my old ones which used to work, don't? Got me stumped!!

Well, well, an update for any interested readers!!
After my burner/s reading data on DVD+RW's OK but not being able to burn anything and being frustrated to the point of computercide, I tried to format a disc with AShampoo and start again but it refused to recognise the disc. I put in another one and another one etc etc. Same deal and on it went, until.......after around eight rejected discs, (at which time the feeling I wanted to murder this bloody computer was strongest), it started to format a DVD+RW and completed it successfully. I then tried to burn to that disc and don't ask me how, I wouldn't have a clue but it worked!!! What caused all this kerfuffle?? Dunno, but I doubt very much that eight discs out of ten or so could all go troppo at once. Bloody gremlins, think I'll get my place exorcised!!
