I will admit I haven't been as enthusiastic since the last posting, the tbird strike took some of the fun out of watching, but life has been in the way and I have been watching every now and then. The lens has been getting clearer and I have been trying to find the right time of the day so daylight doesn't wash out the view.
I captured the clip you're about to view the other day and you will noticed the richness of the trees since they have their leaves now and how large the eaglets have grown. As it is with nature I was lucky enough to capture one concerned parent Eagle fly in at 00:05, notice as she watches the sky from her right to her left then look for a shadow flying by in the upper right corner of the screen at 00:13, youtube could have enhanced the video for me but it made it harder to see the shadow, total time 01:05 .
The video runs okay once it starts, but it is the first time I've published a video that ended up with the rounded rectangle with three dots starting frame, I tried looking around to fix that but I couldn't find any setting(s) to clear it and show the first frame. If anyone can explain that to me I'd appreciate it.

As far as I can see this video is made for only 360p instead of having 720p listed as an option to use on youtube ?

Thanks TZ, I didn't think of the p-setting. There was a caution on the manage page about the original 16x9 display in the bottom of the left panel, but I've had that before and always ignored it and the others came out okay.
I checked the published video and its at 480p, but in the manager its 360p ? I'm a bit rusty since I've been away so I'll have to keep a closer eye on it, I'll post what I find.

Anak: I have been following the nest you posted. At first the lens was very clear. I think maybe one of the chicks "deposited some material on it". It is getting clearer. There are more nests to follow if you do a search. I see one in Iowa and another. There also was a red tailed hawk nest in San Diego but the chicks there have left the nest and only come back on occasion to feed.

My apologies on not getting back to you and the other subscribers of my thread sooner, this time of year is my "get it done" time and I've been really busy. If you've been following the thread it was a "deposit" that caused problems. See; Post #136 and post #139. And over the last few weeks it has been getting clearer, mainly because of the thunderstorms that have passed thru and washed off the lens. I sincerely hope the powers that be reconsider the placement of the cam.
I am aware that there is a plethora of nesting sites, but this one in Hanover, PA is a matter of "local pride". It is about 40miles South of me and is one of two video cams that have been officially established for Eagles in Pennsylvania. The other is in Pittsburgh, and Hanover is the one that I want to concentrate on. It pained me to see the inexperience/naivety of the videographers and the PA Game Commission in their placement of the cam.
Unbeknownst to anyone I have been taking screen captures the last couple of weeks and just letting them run for upwards of several hours while I was busy elsewhere, you'll see some of what I've seen. These are all raw and not edited so they will run anywhere from a couple of minutes to over a half hour, I wish I could be more coherent but it is getting late and I have an early morning, I'll try to straighten out titles and captions later but these three should have something new and different. If you wish. It wouldn't offend me if you jumped around and watched what you wanted, over an hours worth of video.
p.s. I'll have to try and find the one where during one of the T-Storms the kids were flappin' and dancin' to keep the rain off them and stay dry, there was a 'lot a wing action'. Hold on, I found it! It's the third one.
I saw somewhere that the PA Gm Com thinks that the Eaglets will fledge and be able to take their first flight around June 20th.
(apologies, I don't have the link )
Enjoy,
Steve

Well it looks like the Eagle watching is over for this season.
The Game Commission figures one of the eaglets may have used the cam for a perch and tilted it downwards. They were going to shut the cam down either the end of this month or July after the eaglets fledged.
More can be learned at the twitter site, I liked the one posters comment that it was like watching the season finale of your favorite TV show and missing the last 10' because the TV went on the fritz.

Eagle watching at this location is over for this year. The PA Game Com (PGC) has reports from local watchers that both eaglets have fledged and are out and about learning to fly and hunt. They may return to this nest but only for a brief haven. The new mating season won't start until mid to late Fall.
Near the beginning you'll see one eaglet land in the nest and jump up to the cam, about a minute in you'll see some of the eagle to the left of the screen, Half way to the end of the video you'll see a larger portion of the Eaglet.
Marking the thread solved.

The Cam is Back for the 2015-16 Season; With Improvements!
I just started watching after hearing a news story about the new cameras. They both have sound and one is infrared (IR) so you can watch nightly activity, the IR also works during daylight hours.
As I'm posting this, I'm wondering where are those crow and blujay calls coming from? Duh, I had the HDonTap link playing.
I haven't seen the adult eagles yet, but there have been signs; A couple or three turtles, and signs of nest rebuilding\housekeeping. I started this thread the first week of March but the female already had the two eggs, I'm thinking that late next month we'll start to see more regular activity.
Q: When do Eagles Mate/lay their eggs?
A: Breeding season changes with latitude such that northern pairs breed considerably later than southern pairs. Just within the Chesapeake Bay there is a 5 day difference in laying date between the James and Potomac rivers (a distance of about 100 miles). Along the James, nest building begins to intensify in October, we see courtship from late December through mid-January, and most pairs have laid eggs by mid-February. Virtually all pairs have laid by the end of February. The earliest pairs here on the James are on eggs by mid-December.
