When I have a E-mail open and delete it while still in that Email it will open the next email in order. How can I stop Live mail from opening the next email after deleting one? Thanks

Hi BruceMyers48. I've had the same problem and also found it very annoying. My ISP is Bell Canada so I went to LiveChat with them and asked the same question. They told me that you can't change that. Don't let that discourage you though, I just gave up but companies can be wrong from time to time. Keep looking if you want 'cause there might be an answer out there somewhere. Good Luck :)

Sorry but this is the best I could do.
I used the tutorial for finding the missing info but still could not find it. Special Thanks to PooMan UK and DocBrown for their help in filling out these specs.
Thanks, I had the same problem in Thunderbird years ago and there was a fix but that fix won't work for Live mail. Take care
Bruce

The problem is when I finish reading an email I go up to the top and delete it before closing that Email, by doing it that way the next unread email opens up. I don't want that. When I delete the email I'm reading I want to go back to my inbox not open the next unread email. In outlook you can delete he email while it is open and it goes right back to your inbox so you have control over opening the next email.

This is a very annoying bug... any help?

Hi,
This is a very annoying bug (feature?) of Windows Live Mail.
I just wanted to give a quick ping to see if anyone has found a solution?

Having Windows Live Mail read the next message on my behalf means that I always have to close the message and go back to my in-box and manually mark the message as "unread".

Thanks for any help! (I've searched all the "options" menu items with no success...)

Peter.

That is definately not safe.

Do you have the mail preview window off? If not, turn it off, see if that makes any difference. (Preview pane should always always be off, not safe at all)

I've never deleted the email while viewing it, but if there is no way of making the next one not pop up then I would abandon doing it that way completely. Double-click an email to open it. Then close it. Then delete it.

Yes, of course; however that just puts the onus on the user to work around this problem in Windows Live Mail. FWIW, Outlook can delete the e-mail and return to the in-box -- while Windows Live Mail is no Outlook, this seems to be an obvious usability issue that MSFT chose not to address in WLM.

In any event -- looks like enough people have advised that this is just the way the program works. If we want better, I suppose we can vote with our $ and purchase Outlook.

Thanks,
Peter.
