Living in the Past: and loving it. Just a shout out to members of sevenforums. I wanted an upgrade to the old pc i had and after much looking bought a refurbished Dell 990MT on ebay. I7,3.6 gHz,4 core, 16ram, ssd and hdd and nice video card, usb3.0, with win7Pro fresh install courtesy of seller. Well, i have been impressed with it. and thanks to seven forums i have it correct and updated just right. Running Palemoon 29.1 portable off sandboxed flashdrive along with Vivaldi Portable. Everything just as smooth as can be, everything works, everything accessable. bitdefender and proton vpn smooth, quiet and quick. replaced the 1ter hdd with 1t ssd i had, cant hear anything from two feet away. would recommend this to anyone...whew, 200 bucks...damn! Once again my thanks to the people and information hosted and gleaned from sevenforums...a most valuable group of savvy people. Clasof56

In one way or another, we all live in the past, or with our past. (haunted by it)

I'm glad you got something that works for you. That doesn't always happen.

I just received, from an old friend, a Dell Latitude D820, laptop that would flash a "HD Failing" warning every time I'd boot it up.
The sticker on the top of the keyboard told me that the laptop had originally been built with Windows XP on it.
A blast from the past! Eh?
Someone had installed Windows 7 on it, so along with a new HD, it was also going to need an OS Install.
(finding drivers for a box that old, could be a real PITA)

So I installed a 500GB spinner, and picked Windows 8.1/Pro/x86 as my new OS.
As always, 8.1 installs flawlessly and loads the drivers for all the resident hardware, even the PCMCIA slot.
And with the Classic Shell installed, it's like a "Super Seven". Windows 7, on steroids!

I now have a great running little laptop, to go along with my other six. :))
It's good to meet another Floridian. We're fighting extinction! lol

Cheers Mate!
