Hi,

A Friend and I built a computer that is proving to be quite an issue. I have 3DS Max program that runs on windows 7. I have out grown the current computer and thought, what the heck I'll build a new computer specifically for this program. Not knowing what was in front of me. Here are the specs.

Intel Core i5 - 10400 Comet Lake 2.9 GHz six-Core LGA 1200
Asus B-460M-A Prime R2.0 Intel LGA 1200 Motherboard
Samsung 980 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe interface PCIe 3.0 x4 Internal SSD with V-NAND 3bitMLC Tech.
Nvidia GTX 1650 Dual Overclocked Dual fan 4GB GDDR6 PCIe 3.0 Graphics Card
T-Force Delta RGB 64 GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 & Crucial Ballistix Gaming 16 GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 Memory

I knew Windows 7 wasn't being supported any longer BUT I had Nooo idea what problems there is regarding the computer not recognizing the program and updating the drivers and so on.
Can anyone help me with loading Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional on this computer?

Sorry but you aren't being very specific in what your questions are or in what the problem is.

Loading Windows 7 issues

Hi townsbg,
Ok, We load the program, it goes through the process. Once it gets to the language screen, the arrow from the mouse is frozen at the upper left hand corner of the screen and key board doesn't work or once loading it gets to the language screen, there's no arrow from the mouse and key board doesn't work. I hope that helps.
Thanks for your reply

By program you mean you booted the Win 7 installation drive?

New hardware requires new drivers that aren't on the Win 7 installation files. You need to add those drivers to the Win 7 installation files. That is why you don't have mouse or keyboard (missing USB drivers)
You need to add at least the USB 3.x and NVMe drivers.
Update your Win 7 installation media

Right now you don't know whether you can even get Windows 7 drivers for your motherboard. Therefore, you should do a trial Windows 7 installation onto a SATA hard drive or SSD. If that works you can decide whether you want to go through the trouble of adding NVME and any other drivers to the Windows 7 install disk and trying to install Windows 7 again on the NVME SSD.

Another option is to install Windows 10 Professional on your computer and upgrade 3DS Max to a version that works with Windows 10. That makes more sense since your hardware was not designed for Windows 7.

Thanks for the info. I'm sorry, about not being as informative regarding everything we've done. My friend is more the programing tech. Here's what has been tried.

Tried 9 different copies of Windows 7 Ultimate and Pro Versions ALL VERIFIED ISO's including a 2011 CD of pro with the product code.

We've used Windows 7 Image Updater, Windows Image Tool, Windows 7 USB DVD Download tool, WuaCpuFix, Uefi-ntfs Master, Asus EZ installer and Gigabyte Windows USB installation tool and nothing has worked.

Have created both USB sticks and DVD's using RUFUS, Free ISO burner, Windows USB/DVD Tool, Win ISO and Power ISO.

I'm wondering if a driver or drivers aren't placed in a correct sequence . . . ?

New hardware requires new drivers that aren't on the Win 7 installation files. You need to add those drivers to the Win 7 installation files.

You need to add at least the USB 3.x and NVMe drivers.
If you don't add those drivers to the installation files you won't have mouse and keyboard and you won't see the M.2 NVMe drive.

To townsbg,

Windows 7 Professional 2011 version 64 bit.

To Megahertz07,

I downloaded the Win 7 Updater...How do you get to the root of the drive? as directed. Haven't heard that term before.
