Local Security Policy Recommended Changes?

Hi there. (1st time poster, long time reader)

Would would you recommmend changing (for security reasons) from the original default settings in local security policy.

I'm connecting directly to a modem with a single PC that's not used for file sharing or remote use etc.

I found it in my computer but found no option to change it. I wouldn't change anything there If I could.

All I get is MMC could not create the Snap in. When I use comd. prompt admin all I get is can not find command internal or external.

PCs connected to the internet via a NAT Router are much safer from external network attack than a PC connected directly to the modem, because the router blocks incoming calls that it does not know how to handle. At least make sure you have a decent firewall.

It's doable but not worth the return. Some items will not be fully functional from within the console. There may be a topic/tutorial here about how one would go about doing it. Somewhere on the net, there is a list of items that can be changed using group policy. The list contains what keys/data is actually changed in the registry for all available policies. Many with Premium editions have used it to change policies via the registry. It's fairly straight forward but a backup prior to personal edits would be a must.
