Long story short I resolved my other issues from before I believe, but while playing Guild Wars 2 I experienced yet another black screen that required a hard reset. Upon returning to the desktop I received this error message:
(It is worth mentioning that there was no blue screen with crash information. Just a black screen as if my display had gone out. HDMI: Power Saving Mode was flashing on the screen as it does when there is no video signal. I could still hear the music from youtube playing through my headphones and my friends confirmed I was still logged into the game despite all of this. So I only lost video, but the computer as a whole did not seem to crash.)
