Hi folks,

Can anyone point me in the direction of where a chkdsk log file might be?

I ran chkdsk overnight with the repair switch and this morning came down to a pc that had booted into windows - so I have no idea as to whether the disk did have some iffy bits or not.

Even the name of the logfile so that I can search for it mayself would be helpful.

I'm thinking it will be in Windows\System 32 ??

Thanks in anticipation!

Zaph

I don't run Chkdsk a lot, but I sort of remember finding the log file in the root directory of C:.

Also, if you run a program from a cmd prompt, and you want the results to come out in a certain file, you can always direct the output to a certain file by just putting >C:\mylogfile.txt at the end of the command line. I have used this command line to get a printout of the switches for XCOPY.

XCOPY /? >C:\xcopyoptions.txt

So, you can put the .txt file, anywhere you so desire.

Good Luck mate,
