Hi all
Came down to the computer tonight to find myself at the log in screen. Figured it to be from the recent power bump we had and attempted to log on. Says password or user incorrect. Weird. It's a fairly simple-easy to remember password so I try again. No good. Password hint doesn't even show.
I log in to my kids account....as there is no password required there. Notice that icons are missing and it would seem that the IE explorer program is completely gone? What is going on?
Ran malwarebytes...came up clean.
Try to run system restore. Can't do as it wants admin password.
Start in safe mode with command prompt. Same problem. Need admin password.
I can assure you that this is my computer as in another forum I posted my problem and it was implied I was attempting to break into someone else's computer. I am not looking to break into my own computer (although I suppose that would help), rather I want to know why this would happen, whether I can restore the computer to a previous date or if I can use the windows 7 upgrade disk to repair it. Or what the heck I can do to use my computer again.
The computer is a gateway
AMD phenom 9650 2.30 ghz
64 bit

Any help would be great.
Thanks
