locked WD external hard drive

bought a new computer, shifted the external hard drive over, and it is locked - the take ownership trick doesn't work - who designed this POS system?

I use 2 different WD My Book external USB drives on 4 different PCs and never had any of them report the drive is locked.

So it seems that you did something to the drive on the old PC to make it look like it is locked to other PCs.

Additional info will help solve your problem such as, did you encrypt your drive using Bitlocker on your old computer (Applies to Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise versions), Did you password protect your drive using the older computer using the WD Smartware application that comes with some WD drives. Posting the model number of the external drive will determine if the drive came with WD smartware
