Locking UP!

My computer has been locking up lately, today.. My dad was using facebook and my computer locked up, I had to do a hardboot, and start back up again, and now before I posted this forum.... about 10 minutes ago, My computer locked up for 2 minutes and I waited.. Once it came out of it... it resumes... I was playing a game... It seems as if my computer has trouble processing and multi-tasking. Its annoying...

There are no viruses on my computer, Norton checks all the time, and I have Malwarebytes And no viruses, I did a Chkdsk /f in the command line? So Now What? It did not do this before.. I ave not updated in hardware.

And it did it again... I have my harddrive Defragmented..

It is actually conceivably possible that norton is giving you the trouble.
Easy enough to check though, just disable it for a bit and see if the problem still happens with norton off/on snooze.

Oh you have the free comcast version, sadly no I am not.
Usually you would just right click a icon in the task tray and set it to snooze, or turn it off.

Personally I quit using norton when I switched to win 7 because it was bsod'ing my system.
I use MSE for active and scan manually with malwarebytes about once a week now.
It's not the best protection but it's stable.

Does it have to do with how often Norton receives an update?

I think it's a priority issue, when norton decides it's going to scan something it gets priority over everything else that's happening until it's done.

Mind you I could be wrong I'm generally a minidump crash troubleshooter and I'm just basing this off of what's going on and the circumstances. It's kind of like flying blind for me.

Maybe its the update with 16 updates... I looked at a forum saying that his computer slowed down ever since his update, and that it has random problems, and now I realize it, my computer has been acting kinda strange since those updates... and she don't like what Microsoft fed her. I have had some random issues, like locking up often... its been really bad recently.. I'm running a verification on my hard drive right now to make sure everything is in place.

It's telling you it found problems with some core windows files, but did not repair them because you used the verifyonly switch.

I have to run chkdsk? Because I have already done that... Or instead of that I use the scf function?

Yeah, just let it complete, hopefully the corruption isn't too bad, or reinstall may be preferable.

Whenever I get hits with SFC my next question is 'why did it go bad in the first place'.

I have no idea why it went bad in the first place... I tried chkdsk.. That did not work then I remembered if there is a verification switch on the command line... the there is a switch to fix it.. which is SCANNOW. I hope I don't have to reinstall, I have all my music on here, and pictures, and all the videos I have edited..

Well I am good! I think everything is back to order.. I hope this solves my freezing issue... Thanks.. I am a young teenager by the way... I wanna learn and be good at computers like you guys here at the big forums. I know lots but that was something that was stumping me when my computer kept freezing..
