I have a PC running Windows 7. It is constantly being locked out, and windows XP and windows 2000 both allow you to use the windows tool ALockout.dll to discover which process is causing the lockouts. Does anyone know if there is a similar program for Windows 7?

I'm not quite sure that I understand what you mean by "being locked out." Could you elaborate?

When you enter your password incorrectly multiple times, it gets "locked out". If you open Active Directory, right click on the user and select "Properties", you will see in the "Account" tab that the account is locked out.

Oh ok. I think I understand now. A process is using invalid credentials and locking out your account. I'll look into this and get back to you on that.

I'm not sure of the background and environment you are in so it's hard to tell. Is this a fresh installation? Do you have any software that may cache passwords (Adobe Updater I think may be one)? Did the user change his/her password just before this problem started?

I found a site that has a good bit on troubleshooting Windows 7 lockout issues. Some things to check first would be cached passwords (Start > Run > "control userpasswords2" > Advanced > Manage Passwords), and check the Log On As column in your services to see if there is anything incorrect in there. Check mapped network drives, if they were mapped manually with specified credentials and the user changed their password then that could cause it. Another likely cause could be a virus, so perhaps a full scan with your antivirus.

Oh yeah. As far as a tool like ALockout.dll for Windows 7, I don't know if there is one.
