log in screen is gone

when i start my pc, the screen comes up, but i am not given the opportunity to type in my password. i tried booting in safe mode and had the same issue. all i see on my screen is the windows 7 theme and the power button. any help?

If you look further down the tutorial it shows you how to perform a system restore using a recovery/install disk.

What options appear then?

If you have your Seven install disk it may just be easier to boot into that to do a system restore.

What options do you have from the power button. Have you seen any activation or not genuine messages? If this were the case, you should have an option to activate on the screen somewhere.

Just for the heck of it, you might try holding down the shift key during boot. This is supposed to disable autologon, but it may not be related to your situation.

Have you used any third party software to set up an autologon?

Alright, you will need to repair your computer using your original Windows 7 Installation Disc. Seems like your imageres.dll was corrupt or encountered a problem. You to repair your computer. (If that doesn't work, that means something bigger has happened, like a corrupt installation.)
