Is there any advantage or disadvantage to either one?
I've been so busy with different things for at least several days that I have been forgetting to log out of here when I thought I was done but when I came here a bit ago to post, was expecting to have to log in but was already.

It's more of just a personal choice for what you prefer, and what your circumstances are.
Stay logged in = Makes it quicker to access and post to the site. If you have others that have access to your computer, then it could pose a risk of them being logged in to the site as you.
Log out = More secure to prevent others from being logged in the site as you. However, it'll take a bit longer to log in each time you visit the site.

I think after 45 minutes of NO activity, SF shows that you are NOT online. but if you just refresh your browser or click on New Posts, you will see you are still logged in and showing that you are online.
