usually from the webrowser

In adress bar type:

192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

Depends on the router. That should get you in anyway.

Routers are typically set to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, depending on the brand (my Linksys is 192.168.1.1). Again depending on the brand, the default login name and password will be in the manual, but "admin" and "password" would be a good first place to start.

So, you open a browser window and type in 192.168.1.1. That should bring you to the login screen for the router. From there, as I said, it depends on the router's defaults.

Home LAN through Linksys hub to 4 port and wireless switch/router. Networked HP 2600n. Wife's computer running Windows 7, and spare laptop running Ubuntu "Karmic Kola" (9.10).
Some routers in Australia at least use these ip's 192.168.0.254 192.168.1.254 10.0.0.138, if you set your ip manually make sure you change your ip to match, if you have a 10.network you wont be able to access your router if it's a 192.168.network and vice versa, also 192.168.0. wont read 192.168.1 unless you subnet them correctly.

Go to Start -> "cmd". The command prompt should open up. Type "ipconfig", hit Enter. The IP address for your router should be in the first section mentioned (Default Gateway). Just type that into any web browser's address bar and it should take you to the router's front page or prompt you for a username and password. Usually, they're on the router somewhere (physically) or they're default's like "Admin" and "password".
