Using build 7100 64 bit. My rig consists of a core i7 920, sli 285s, and 6 gb ocz ram.I have noticed that since I installed the build, the time that it takes to go from me typing in my password to desktop is getting considerably longer. It's up to about 3-5 minutes now which is ridiculous. Sometimes I'll see a black screen first then the desktop a minutes later and finally my programs after another minute. I went under msconfig and brought my startup programs down to 3: antivirus, evga precision, and soundmax. Does anyone know how I can solve this issue? Thank you in advance.

First try to disable all startup apps and see where that gets you...

If that doesn't work than open up Computer properties->Performance Information and Tools->Advanced Tools->Views Performance Details in Event Log

Tell us the errors you are getting!

BTW Nice rig!

Thanks for the quick reply Zidane. I disabled all startup apps and restarted only to find that antivirus and the controlcenter for my printer still came up. While I didn't get the black screen with mouse this time, it still hung at welcome for about 3 minutes. Just tried to go under advanced tools and when i clicked on view performance details, the window stopped responding . Tried to force it closed, but to no avail. Lost all the bars and icons on my desktop, but I still have this webpage opened lol. Looks like I'm going to have to restart. I did a virus scan with kaspersky the other day and nothing bad came up, so I don't know what the deal is with this rig. This is first ever build too.

Looks like I would attempt a repair install because something amongst the lines went horribly wrong...

Hopefully that should fix your issues...

Well I'm going to do the repair install later tonight, but after logging back on after a hard shut down :(, I was able to get into the event viewer. By the way, I have another question for you. How bad is it to force a computer to shut down manually with the power button. I've had to do that five times today due to this issue and a loss of video from with Age of Conan. Just curious if I'm hurting this new rig. Thanks.

The only issue with doing a "hard" shutdown is if the Processor was writing files to the disk than they might get corrupted...otherwise it isn't that big of a deal (it used to be...)

Thanks for all the help Zidane. Ill post back after I repair install when I get around to it :D

I have no reinstalled yet, but I have noticed something interested maybe you can comment on. I have been turning on my computer, but letting it sit for a few minutes at the login screen before typing in my password. When I do this, there is no delay or black screen as there were when I didn't wait. I wonder why.

Sounds like it is having to take time to initalize a device...or some windows files are corrupt...do a repair install or format and install a new build of 7...your problem should be fixed then
