login screen is completely black with the mouse cursor

Hey guys this is my first post in need of ALOT of help. Well here's my story I shut down my computer one night turn it back on and it does everything regularly and then after windows boot up the login screen is completely black with the mouse cursor. I've searched everywhere and the thing that might help is last know good configuration tryed it same thing.

Or even other methods that help PLEASE I dont want to spend 300 dollars to fix it (I don't care if I lose all of my saves and pictures) I just want my computer with windows 7 back

Hi Ejoe -- You won't have to spend anything, we will get it going. Just hang with us. == Does it get to the Windows screen with the logo? Did you install anything new the night before the problem? Was your computer purchased at a store and it already had Windows on it or did you build it? What version of Windows 7 do you have, Home Premium, Professional etc. and 32 or 64 bit? Thanks,

Computer: ibuypower st700 or ibuypower st600 (I think it's st600)

Os:windows 7 umm let's see 32 or 64 I think it's 64 (lol this is why I need my guy back)

Anything downloaded before: TF2 and Driver Updates on nvidia

Windows screen with logo: yes it starts up like everything else it has windows starting and shows the logo and everything but then there's a black screen with mouse cursor


I purchased it off of staples.com and it already had windows 7 installed on it


Ps: once again idk I will do anything I just want my sweet windows back I have all my programs on steam

It went threw a startup loop a few times idk why I'm so stumped

Do you have a back up image?

Maybe the nVidia driver updates are causing the issue ?
Try booting in Safe Mode by tapping F8 at startup.

after i did a couple system recoverys everything is slower to going to log in page from black screen login and even starting up programs. Now i just need to wipe my computer fresh start. Id like that but i dont want to have to go through reinstalling windows i dont have a disk for it what do I do

Hi -- Let's try this. I hope you have a way to download a file and make a Windows 7 Disk. Go to this link Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River You will need to go half way down the page to get to yours. Make sure the language is English and you are looking for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The file number is == X17-58997.iso == Download the file and burn it to a DVD at the slowest rate you can to make sure it burns true. Before we do a Clean Install, I want to try a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html After you have the DVD made, put it in the DVD drive and boot. You will come to a screen that says Repair Install. Run that and let me know if anything changes. Good Luck == The Repair Install will NOT change any of your Personal Files.
