Just passing this along from my recent experience in case someone else is wondering what's going on with their system after attaching one of these. After plugging in the KB, all ran great...until I re-booted...
The Logitech Illuminated USB KB has a problem with the BIOS on some PC's. I noticed that during a reboot, the BIOS hung for about 2 mins & I was unable to access it with the F keys. After this it would start Windows normally and the KB worked fine.
After some research, it basically boils down to that it doesn't play well with the BIOS of some PC manufacturers (Dell being one of them). The hang up is when the BIOS is trying to initialize the KB. From what I saw on some posts, this has been a problem for about 3 years now. Logitech & PC makers are playing the "blame game".
Logitechs suggestion is to enable legacy USB support in the BIOS. However, as I said earlier, the F keys don't work during the hang so you'll need to switch KB's, and from what I saw on various posts, this doesn't always work. Mine was already enabled to do this, and the same problem persisted.
I thought about this after I ordered another KB & returned the Logitech, but I wonder if the problem would have been solved by connecting a PS/2 USB adapter. I'll have to try that if the next KB has the same problems.
Anyway, if you're thinking of getting this for Christmas for yourself or someone else, best to research it online to make sure the PC won't have any problems with it.
