I recently bought a webcam (logitech orbit af) for my deployment. I installed it using the software it came with and plugged it in. Once i appeared on the screen 5 seconds passed before the computer BSOD'd stating IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL. The computer restarted and the webcam did its auto rotation down and to the left and back to center crashing the computer in the process. I finally got it to work by closing its software and letting the comp run for a while but thats only a temp fix that works 25% of the time. If the computer restarts its back to square one. On occasion teh webcam will still crash the computer even after its worked fine for a little bit. Im really hoping someone can help me with this problem. Returning isnt an option for another 5 months.

Attached are two of the many dump files if you need more let me know.

Your .dmp files ( both ) blame sptd.sys as the reason for your crash... Try removing any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads ...

Just to throw this out there daemon tools has been on my computer for months before i bought this webcam with 0 problems. The crashes started within 5 seconds of my plugging the usb in for the webcam. Maybe the webcam is screwing up when daemon tools is running at the same time?

EDIT: and as far as I know the drivers are up to date the camera says all its drivers are as well.

My bad if im bumping this. But im getting my Orbit AF in the mail tomorrow. ALOT of people have used this with Windows 7 already with no peoblems. You CAN'T use the disc that came with the cam. Its old. Download the newest software thats on the site. Matter of fact...they just recently updated the software on Aug 10th 2010...to the latest Windows 7 software. So all should be good after that.

Also have the HP G60-235DX Notebook which i use mostly everyday.
I had this problem occur within the last few weeks. The data about Virtual CD led me to look at Western Digital software (Every USB disk drive has a virtual CD?). I un-installed WD SmartWare and (wow) the problem disappeared. In fact I just plugged in the Orbit while typing this message.

The link from Tews for uninstalling sptd.sys is a download (install) which I haven't done. Not necessary?

I guess I'll find out later the effect on my USB drive usage.

I was having issues with the Nvidia drivers from my video card clashin with the program software that came with it (not the drivers). It was very frustrating. Uninstall the the Logitech programs, and leave just the drivers, then try it?
