Logitech Webcam Video Call Freezes Programs...?

I am running a Dell Laptop Inspiron 1525. After I upgraded the RAM and replaced my hard drive, I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 even though the laptop originally came with Windows XP. I have never experienced software problems with this computer before.

The drivers for the Logitech Webcam I am using were automatically installed when I plugged it into the USB drive. It seems to work fine until I open a program and attempt to use it. Skype and MSN Messenger functioned normally beforehand. However, when I try to start a video call in either program they freeze up and I have to force close them. I'm not sure if the problem is with the Webcam or some incompatibility between Windows 7 and my computer, but I'm certain it isn't the programs themselves since it happens with more than one. I have used both programs on other computers and my usernames are perfectly fine. I also tried changing the compatibility mode for these programs with no results.

Any advice here...? It's imperative that I fix this as soon as possible so I communicate with my family. Thanks!
