Logon Issue

I've been running RC1 for about a week now, no problems. Today I started up my computer to a user account logon, which normally isn't there due to the fact I only have one user account. There were two, Administrator(the one I used), and Other User, with no avatar. Both of the accounts had passwords, but when I hit enter, it says: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. I assume it has something to do with registry tweaks, and now I have no idea what to do. I've tried booting with last known good configuration, safe mode, etc.

It sounds like you added your machine to a domain without realizing that you had - or else you're infected pretty badly with malware.

Can you detail what registry tweaks you have performed?

Uh yeah, I pretty much changed everything in the registry that had my computer name to blank, so my computer name was blank. It sounds like a really dumb idea, but it worked before.

Try performing a repair install from the Windows 7 DVD....

And I am not going to ask why you would do that in the first place....

The Windows Repair did not work. I managed however to install Windows 7 on another partition. Normally, I would just copy everything off and reformat, but I'd rather not have to do that. How can I access the registry on the other partition?

I've managed to find certain things in the registry on the other partition, but not what I need to edit.
