Logonui.exe failure after install

Hello,
I just upgraded from windows vista ultimate on a fujitsu 5010.

I ran the pre-upgrade tester, and it stated I could upgrade all questionable software after install. It specifically listed the authentec fingerprint driver.

The install ran fine, but after reboot it gets to the login screen and then begins flashing.

I can log in in safe mode, but can't deinstall the old authentec driver. I was able to download the beta windows 7 driver, but that didn't address the issue.

The event log shows logonui.exe as faulting.

Any ideas how to get around this?
Thanks!
Jim

Ok... I'm still stuck.

I can log into windows in safe mode with networking, but can't boot normally without ending up in a flashing logon screen that I can't get past.

I tried setting my account to autologin, but that didn't work.

I tried removing the fingerprint software in safe mode, but I get an error message about not being able to uninstall software in safe mode.

I'm out of ideas. I'm still seeing the errors in the event log for logonui.exe crashing.

Help!

Thanks
Jim

Try running sfc /scannow from a Command Prompt (right click and choose "run as Administrator")
