Hi guys
Who'se got the longest continuous uptime of a W7 installation -- just curious.

Since I've skipped the last few builds I've actually had mine up for around 8 weeks now -- small beer by Linux standards but earlier this year I think we were all installing a new build every 2 - 3 weeks .

I'll have to re-boot soon however as I intend to get the RTM as a Technet subscriber.

Cheers
jimbo.

I think my longest uptime is around 12 hours. 10 internal drives, lots of fans.

Verify that!

I have a Win7 VM that we forgot about that has been running... uh... since the first leaked tech release? So like... months and months. A LONG time.

4 days have been my longest run. had to turn it off because the PSU blew up and took my HDD and a memory module to its grave. it wasn't the long run, of course, but a crappy PSU. it happened like 30 days ago.

How do you gentlemen not have to restart computers for certain drivers etc to be put into effect? I know updates for some of my programs let alone W7 updates alone have said "Must Restart computer for these changes to take effect"

I don't keep my windows boxes on much longer than I actually need them. With high power graphics cards and the like...they machines just pull tons of power...so I shut 'em down when I am done with them. Now my home server on the other hand, which idles at about 62 watts stays on 24x7.

I don't care about most drivers on the machine. It's headless, so I definitely don't go checking for video drivers left and right :P

Well for me personally, I never shut off my PC. I can't remember the last time I did. Must've been years. But I haven't kept a Win7 install running on a continuous basis since last October. I'm pretty much reformatting and reinstalling every 7-14 days it seems like. I did just complete a clean install today. We'll see how long this lasts since I don't see any other leaks on the horizon.
