My wife has a Kindle and can read it anywhere at any angle. I have an iPad that is visible only in a dark room. I recently bought a glare screen that was highly rated on Amazon but could not use it outside, under an umbrella. Just too much glare. I'm willing to buy a new device.

I know, seems a bit extreme to purchase a device just to watch Netflix but I'm retired and am catching up on various series. I hate to stay indoors to watch Mad Men and the like.

Is there a tablet, laptop, netbook or whatever, that can do this? I'll even dump the iPad (version 2).

Bobland, something tells me that your out of luck with most tablets or netbooks. Why not a Kindle?
Lots less aggravation in testing a bunch of tablets or netbooks..

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
Afaik, no tablet from Apple or Samsung or ASUS manages to have a decent screen when outdoors.
I never tested Sony tablets, but may have a good screen, if my Sony phone is any indication.

If Kindle does it, I'd say go ahead. It has a pretty active modding community back at xda-developers, in case you dislike its standard system you can load Android Jelly Bean on it anytime.
