So right now, as I'm typing out this forum post, my computer is downloading something. I'm not sure what, I'm not sure why, and I'm not sure where from. Does anyone know any programs out there that are able to see the servers that my computer is connected to and downloading from?

This is really troubling for me. I mean, for all I know it could just be Windows auto-updating itself, but it's downloaded at least 3/4 of a gig by now.

Can anyone help?

As a starting point, this might give you a clue as to what is going on..

try netstat -b

(start, run, cmd), then netstat -b at command prompt.

This will tell you each open connection, port number and the program that opened the connection

You could also try netlimiter (NetLimiter - The Ultimate Bandwidth Shaper)

or wire shark (Wireshark · Download)

Well it turns out that it was a Garmin map update, great. Last night, I restarted my computer, causing the download to stop, then this morning, the Garmin update program said it's building the map. So it turns out that's what it was downloading.

Thank you for the programs to use though, it's always good to know what's going on. :)
