What I want to do is have various apps and windows sized and positioned on my desktop, save the configuration and then be able to open and close it at will.

I've tried various virtual desktop managers but they all seem overkill for what I want. I don't want all my apps open all the time and just have the ability to switch to different layouts of them. When I'm finished using my saved desktop I want to be able to close it and all the opened apps with it.

Does a virtual desktop manager exist that can do this, is it even possible?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers.

So, I'm giving Dexpot a go. Works well enough for having the different desktops for different tasks just a click away but I daren't look in Task Manager, the number of chrome.exe*32s in there is frightening! Plus, it's all gone once I shutdown or restart the PC.

The only way to get what I want appears to be with a batch file. Seems easy enough to open apps with one but far more complicated to achieve positioning, sizing etc.

So, unless there's something ready made out there, I'm off to peruse my Batch Programming pdf.

Cheers.
