Does anyone know of a Windows software designed to remove unwanted applications from your system? I have a few apps that I cannot remove by going to “Control Panel \ Features and Applications \ Uninstall” method. I am aware that there are 3rd party softwares that supposedly remove applications but before I go that route, I want to make sure I’m not missing an app that already resides in Windows. FYI, I am running Windows 7 (64bit) Home Premium. Any help wil be greatly appreciated!! ….Thanks in advance!

Revo Uninstaller, while not "Windows based" is top of the line in my book. Between Windows built-in uninstaller and Revo I haven't found ANYTHING I couldn't remove. You could always just delete folders and registry entries yourself.

...Thanks indianacarnie,
I have heard about the Revo tool, is the free version good enough to do the job? I really don't feel comfortable editing the registry, especially if I'm not sure just what has to be edited / deleted.

I notice you are using a 64bit windows. I don't think that the free Revo will uninstall native 64bit programs. It very good with the 32bit ones though. The Pro version will remove both but costs.

Thanks for the input kado897,

I have installed the free version of Revo on my system but have not had a chance to try it. In the meantime, I inquired as to whether or not ‘iolo System Mechanic’ (which I have installed on my system) has a application removal tool, which it does. So, if Revo doesn’t remove the app, I’ll give System Mechanic a try.

I've not tried System Mechanic so I can't comment on how good it is.

I would recommend Revo as the others have mentioned, have looked for removal tools developed by the authors of the programs your trying to uninstall?

BlueRobot,

I have been in contact with the software's support staff regarding this problem. They initially provided me with a 'cleaner' tool for the app, which did not remove anything. I relayed the outcome of their tool and their response back to me was to search out and try a 3rd party removal software (preferably a free software). I was less than satisfied with their reply and told them so. If you can't support what you sell. then don't sell it! ...I'm still not through with them but in the meantime I'm looking for alternatives...

I have a paid version of Revo Pro. As noted the free "regular" version of Revo Uninstaller will not uninstall 64 bit applications, just 32 bit. However, you can download a trial verison of Revo Uninstaller Pro, that will let you remove 64 bit applications. It also has an option for force uninstall.

IOBit Toolbox People! It's free and does almost everything Revo Does! just use the IOBit uninstaller and theres options for standard uninstall, advanced uninstall, and forced uninstall, (which u rarely need to use). plus many other great apps. The only one i would not recommend using is the registry cleaner, just use CCleaner for that.

I beleave this is the link >> >> Download IObit Toolbox 1.2 (dont worry, iobit usually uploads thru this website)

IOBit is a horrible program to use, it causes many problems, especially BSODs.

Thanks to all that have replied to my post!!

Just fyi, I ran the free version of the Revo tool and removed two of the unwanted applications. As far as I can tell, the tool worked as advertised and I’m fairly certain that the two apps were of a 64 bit nature. I suppose the real test will be when I try reinstalling those apps and maybe at that point I will find out if there is / was a conflict of old code left over.

Okay, time to pitch imaging. Beside being the ultimate virus protection, and ultimate ant-hardware failure protection, and ultimate system corruption protection, it's also the ultimate uninstaller.
When you restore an image taken before you installed something, it's much better than any uninstall.
It was never there! Magic!
