Looking for BSOD help

Hi everyone,

since a while i have been playing Starcraft 2 online, every once in a while i get a BSOD during the game. I didn't have this before and i have no clue on what the cause may be. Perhaps someone here can help me out?

I read the post on how to post your logs, so here goes my try.

My computer runs on Windows 7 Ultimate x64
It's a retail version and i re-installed it about a month ago since i tried to find a solution for the crashes.
I believe i updated all the drivers then and run some scanners once a month:
Malwarebyte's, Ms Security Essentials, SUPERantispyware

My MB is a GigaByte GA-P35-DS3R , purchased in august 2007
Cooler: Corsair HX520 520 Watt, 24 Pins
RAM: OCZ Memory EL Platinum 2 DC 2 GB, PC6400, 800 MHz, 4
Video: Club3D VGA GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB

Easy, memory corruption caused by your video driver. I would re-install the driver and test the memory.

re-install using these
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.


Test memory using this

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.


Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Heya Zigzag,

thanks allready for your effort.

I deleted my old drivers using the Drive Sweeper and installed the latest driver from Nvidia.

I also did a memtest, with all 4 slots occupied and there was no error. The test ran for about 20h straight. No errors.

But now my pc won't start up normally again. I get the option to choose between starting up windows normally or on repair mode (if that is the correct translation ). If i choose normal, then i end up at the black windows startup screen (windows logo in the middle) and when i choose repair mode, it stays on that mode for like ages.

Any idea what may have caused this?

Edit: the new driver i downloaded is the same i had installed. Atm my pc is up and running again, but i cannot play video's cause that will make everything freeze :S

Edit 2: another crash and i had some windows repairprogramm running automatically at startup giving the following note:

Well,

unfortunately i'm back.

I had another BSOD whilst playing Starcraft 2. This one disappeared too quick for me to read, but i thought it would be enough to post my new material here.

I reinstalled windows 7, did a himem check on my RAM and afterwards i tested 1 part in all 4 slots for at least 8 runs. Besides that, i did not install any video driver from nvidia nor any other driver.
Checkdisk showed me no errors on my harddrives.

So i really don't know what causes these BSOD's and any help would be appreciated

Well,

i removed all the hardware from my computer, cleaned it, put it all back together, updated every possible driver i have (or at least i think so) and still no good :S

No one here has any clue left?

Is it possible that it has something to do with my videocard drivers? Can they interfere with my system? I let furMark test my GPU for 10 mins (is that long enough?) and the temperature was stable between 88 and 90 degrees on a full screen test.

Since i did a test with Himem and all the memory sticks passed all the tests i excluded my RAM as a possibility.
Edit: also a 12h run with Prime95 showed no errors.

Edit2: installing the latest nvidia driver (260.99_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql) makes my system freeze when i play video's (normal video files and youtube online) and when i uninstall this driver (Driver Sweeper, select all from Nvidia) it let's me play my video's normal.

Same thing happens with an older driver (197.15_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_
