Morning all,

If not against the forum rules I am looking for recommendations for a simple wi-fi adapter to make a wired Ethernet devise (my stereo amplifier) wireless so it can communicate with my PC via my linsky router.

My amplifier is a pro sound unit that can be monitored via its Ethernet port, however the amp is in my listening room and my PC is in my office, so running 100' of cable throughout my apartment is sort of ridiculous. I did purchase an adapter off of Amazon, but it is of Chinese origin and is filled with malware and spam and wont work cause it is blocked by my Malwarebytes. I only "found" the devise by uninstalling my Malwarebytes program, but the virus/spam then showed itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its not against the rules.

We need the make and model of your stereo amplifier to see if it has the ability to add a wireless adapter to it. It sounds like it does since you already bought one product that would have added wireless to it but is also had malware.

Regardless of whether the amplifier it has the ability to add a wireless adapter to it or not, you could always get a Repeater that has ethernet ports on it. A repeater is a device that connects wirelessly to your existing router, and it has ethernet ports coming out the back of it where you could connect your amplifier using an ethernet cable. The cable could be very short if you put the repeater right next to your amplifier. Here is a link to one lowish priced popular repeater on amazon. I would shop around, I only show this one because it came up on my search.

Word !! That's exactly the type of info I was hoping to get !! Thanks. I gotta product in mind, a Linksys AC750 that should be compatible with my slightly dated Linksys single band 2.4ghz E1200 router. Gonna call Linksys tomorrow just to make sure'

Yes, the amp (Crown MA5000I) works with wireless, I have the software (HiQnet NetSetter from Harman) installed on my desktop and it immediately found the router, I just need to make the amp's wired Ethernet signal into wifi so it can communicate with my E1200.
