I am wondering if i should send in a petition to MS on this. I wonder if I overlook things and if it's a reasonable RFC.

1.) Opened a attatched Word document in Outlook webaccess (OWA) 2007
2.) Modified the docoment (2 hours of work in this case  )
3.) Clicked the Save button and closed the document
4.) Realized myself it was saved in some tempfolder...
5.) Started looking for it by doing the same action (with same document...)
6.) Step 5 has probaply overwritten my work

I managed to find where it should be
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\
This folder contains a couple of 8-position alpha nummeric (capital) named folders, and all I found was my unchanged opened unchanged document.

Now why does IE9 overwrite (assuming step 6 is true) the file with exactly the same name? Normally it suffixes something like "(1)". I am suggesting MS should make a change in OWA (still used alot) and/or IE9 that a tempsaved file cannot be saved modified by a user again in a tempfolder. I am pretty much done with the fact this is still possible. It is also a nasty thing in business environments where you don't have access to folders like these.

Thanks for looking at it!

Johannes

BTW: and why are the Temporary Internet files subfolders not visible in explorer. Only visible by pasting in the full pathname. Weird isnt it?

The browser cache (Temporary Internet files) holds previously viewed pages. However it's not clear to me how it is involved with Microsoft Exchange Server, which should be saving your documents. Normally, we can view the cache through Tools/Internet Options/General/Browsing History/Settings so it doesn't matter if it's hidden in Windows Explorer. That window can be ordered my modified date if you view the cache in details view and have added that column header.
