Today when I logged on I have noticed that in Windows Explorer I have lost all my Favorites. I tried to add them again manually but no luck I continue to get the red circle with a line through it. I have spent a lot of time looking at all sorts of threads and forums to others who have had similar issues. I have gone through the regedit things to with making sure permissions are there, and modifying things. I have downloaded various zip files which are meant to help. So far I have had no luck with anything.

One thing in the looking around is that I have noticed that I no longer have a 'Links' folder under my username. Interestingly when I check with the other username, there is one there. However I am the administrator not the other user so that does not help. I don't know if these two issues are connected. Again i have looked to see what I can do about this, and again I have come up with being unable to find the 'Links' folder or get it back there.

So I am asking for assistance with at least the first problem as this is the one that is very limiting. The second matter is not causing any frustration, yet, unless it is in fact the cause of the first problem. Thanks for any support, because all ideas so far posted have come up empty for me

Thanks for this Brink. it has reinstalled the 'Links' folder, and I can drag folders into my 'Favorites' again. The only difference is under Favorites, it has the folders which I dragged & dropped, and they are all titled 'Folder - Shortcut'. So not sure why this time they say Shortcut.

Thanks again

Thanks for looking at this Brink. Here is a snapshoot of how it looks now that the 'links' folder is reinstated

Are the locations you are dropping in Favorites shortcuts themselves? In other words, do these folders already have the shortcut extension in their file name before added them to Favorites?

As a test, open "Computer" in Windows Explorer, then right click on "Favorites" in the navigation pane, and click on "Add current location to Favorites" to see if "Computer" is added with or without the shortcut extension.

Hi Brink. When I add folders to 'favorites' by drag and drop method the 'shortcut' is there. When I add them by the method you have shared there is 'shortcut'. Which is interesting as I am accessing the same folder in the same location, and it is not via a shortcut. Anyway it seems all good now. Thanks

Oops I meant to say using your method you shared above, the 'shortcut' does NOT appear. So it has solved. Thanks
