Win 7 got serious virus, crashed and had to be restored to original settings. Anyone know a safe effective program for finding lost files?

Yes, recuva is completely safe. It is widely used, and I have used it many a times.

Edit : You have performed a factory restore, and then trying to recover data ? Let us know if recuva fails .
