I have two Win7 64 bit Premium Home edition computers, 1 a Dell Inspiron 1525 the other a Dell 620. I created a homegroup on the laptop and got the password, then I went to the desktop and by mistake created another homegroup. I left the Homegroup on both computers and tried to create a new, but now I get the message " cannot setup a Homegroup on this computer" on both computers. I've tried everything that's been written about this to no avail. My home network works fine, but I would like to get the Homegroup working. Does anyone have a solution for this. You would think that as many people that have had this problem that Microsoft would have came up with a fix by now..

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I'm not sure it's a Dell problem, but rather a Windows one.

I would have thought the easiest way round your problem would be to carry out a system restore on both computers to a time before you created the original Homegroups.

Having done that create a new Homegroup on one of the computers, make a note of the password, and then go to the other computer and join the new Homegroup.

That was a mis-type.should have been microsoft.
The desktop is brand new didn't have restore setup yet and the laptop was a new install also not setup.

Ok found a backup point on the laptop, restored it. I created a homegroup on the laptop, but when I try to join on the desktop, (which it now gives me that option)it says homegroup encountered a error. When I run troubleshooter it doesn't find the problem.
