Solved Lost my product key

Trying to reinstall windows 7, but to make the iso disk I need to enter the product key, unfortunately the product key stocker has faded and is no longer ligible. Does anyone e know if the key is stored in a file on the hard drive somewhere or of any other ways to recover the key fom the pc itself?

If that is a retail key (your spec says custom build, so I assume it is ), there are many programs which can retrieve it for you.

I assume you`re using the Microsoft site, let us know what key you used (Retail , oem etc) and if it worked to download the iso file.

It recognized the key but shows an error screen saying that it is software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. And it won't let me make the iso but it's cool, my dad found my original disc. Thanks for the help

Ya you can`t use an oem key, it needs a retail or system builder oem key.
