Ok, yet another Mirrored hard drive thread...sorry. I did some searches and couldn't find any posts that match my issue. And I have read several posts after my searches, so no need to inform me how bad it is to use software mirrors, not to rely on them etc, I already read all those statements.

My system was that I had my OS on a PNY 480 SSD. I had two WD 500GB HDDs set up in a mirror for additional storage. I had backed up my HDDs, however I don't have a current back up.

The problem is that my SSD died, the one with the OS on it. I had to install a new SSD and Reload the OS, after doing so one of my mirrored HDDs died. cant believe the odds of two drives going out at nearly the same time. Anyway, I just want to recover the one good HDD and want to ask if this is possible.

Was it in RAID 0 or 1? If you were using spanned your boned, mirrored you might be in luck as it should just be a copy and a dynamic disk you need to initialize. Look for in disk management and find it (it will most likely say offline) and then right click it and initialize it. Also if you suddenly have a bunch of disks failing your motherboard SATA controller could be also failing.

It was RAID 1. Thanks for the MB tip. It is a few years old. I will give that a try. I currently had both of them unplugged until I could figure out a resolve. I didn't want any read/writes attempting to go to them.
