Lost sata drivers

I have a ASUS M5A97 MB and have installed Win7 64 three times in a row, I lose my sata rom drivers after I update. Can I fix this problem now or should I reinstall and and check every point of update to figure out when I lose them...getting upset!

The first place to look would be right at the Asus support site! ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS M5A97

Once the model page is found for the model board you have you open the "downloads" tab and then select the OS you are running to automatically arrive at the correct download page. There are two versions of the driver sets with three items for the 32bit and 64bit XP, Vista/7, and the 3rd for all three versions under each driver version to choose from.

The cd that comes with the board itself will also have the drivers there as well.

Can you explain more fully how you "lose" these drivers?

Win7 wouldn't install if it didn't have the SATA drivers since it needs them to even see your HD to install on it.

That's why every SATA driver is already in the Win7 installer.

After installing all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates which will include newer drivers, check in the Device Manager to see if any drivers are actually missing?

Compare how you did the reinstall to these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
Pay special attention to how drivers are handled in Win7.

Well after the 4th install I found the problem, when I ran the software cd for my cam it body slammed ONLY my cd rom sata drivers...trashed the cam...
