low ram disk

i'm having trouble with my pc.. its so god damn slow it takes me almost a minute just to open an excel file. My ram's size is only 512 MB...i just need at least 1G .. any one know's how to "clock-up"? or increase the size of my Ram through a command or something..


any help will be greatly appreciated..

Not possible. You need to buy more ram (memory) for your computer.

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

• 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
• 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

You could try using readyboost to help the performance (note: this does NOT add more ram to your pc, but it helps the performance):http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/33289-readyboost-setup-use.html

yeah/ i'm already using windows 7.. The problem is i got 512mb of ram only, which, from what i know, is the cause of its slow performance. This was already fixed by our it personnel. It sized - up to 1gb of ram, but after a week of me using it, it gone back to 512 mb. I just think there's some sort of command thats being done to size the ram up. If im not mistaken...

I'm also using ready boost but its not of great help. Actually it only allows 4g of memory.

There is no command to add more RAM. Considering how cheap it is these days, and that this is a work computer, you should have had more installed long ago.

Anyway, Readyboost also doesn't "add" to your RAM. It gives the computer a place to offload some of the cached files in memory (or on your virtual memory file on your hard drive). This way, it can free up your physical memory for active applications, and give your "chache" a faster place to reside than your HDD. If a system has more than 1 GB of memory, there is really nothing to be gained by Readyboost, though.
