Low volume through headphones on laptop

Hey guys first time poster.

I have read lots of info on similar problems but never managed to sustain an answer that was relevant to me. I bought new headphones, which are clearly meant for other use than listening through a laptop, but anyway. The problem is in the title as it where. Ive seen lots of people babble on about realtek audio drivers, but suffice to say the only info i have about my sound card is thats its a High Defintion Audio Device Driver. I know computers a bit, but im also a bit of a moron.
Anyhoo, is there and solution to go into the driver and enable it to be configured as headphones(i heard that somewhere) as speakers is the only option there. Or is it simply just to fork out on a new sound card, or even better a new pissing laptop!

So i have read that back and it is very cluttered heh, but if anyway can understand my half English i would be very much obliged.
Thanks

Have you tried going into the configuration(s) for the audio to see if you can somehow raise the volume?

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
Yeah, tried all the basic solutions but to no avail. Its the same problem with my iPhone so it seems to be recognising the headphones as something else(maybe).

If you only have "High Definition Audio Device" listed, that is usually only the generic, basic function, Windows installed driver and not the correct sound driver for whatever sound hardware you have (e.g. RealTek, Conexant, etc). Installing the correct sound driver may or may not help with the headset volume. What is the headset you have?

Its a Phillips SHP2500. How would i go about finding out what is the right driver?

Those should work. The specs I see says they have a volume control on them. Have you tried the volume control?

The first place to look for the correct sound driver is the PC Vendor. If this is an older PC, XP drivers are not compatible, but Vista drivers are.

Maybe the low headset volume has been there all along and may be a hardware problem with the PC.

same problem with the iPhone, so nothing to do with the laptop. The headphones are acting like speakers i guess, but i cant control it with a shit laptop and no proper answers on soundcard issues, just conjecture. But thanks anyway guys.

I would suspect its just a defective headset or the volume control in the headset since it works the same way in the iPhone.
