Hello everyone, my first post here. I plan on doing a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on my near 5-year old machine. To keep things running quickly I plan to install the OS on my 15,000rpm Maxtor Atlas 15k II drive, but I am in need of a controller.

The LSI20320IE seems to fit the bill nicely as it is PCI Expres x4 which is supported by my aging DFI NF4 motherboard. LSI's website lists the device as supported by Windows Vista 32-bit, 64-bit and "IA64". My question is simply whether this card will be supported by W7 pro 64-bit. Here is a link to the card's specs on LSI's website:

LSI20320IE : SCSI HBAs : Host Bus Adapters : Storage Products : Storage : LSI

Thanks so much!!!:D

Can you run the Windows7 upgrade advisor tool from Microsoft?

It will identify any hardware issues before you actually run the installer...

Well I wanted to know if the card was going to work before I purchased it...running the upgrade adviser without the card in the machine will not help me.

I would have thought contacting the manufacturer for their specifications or opinions wouldn't be too difficult a pre-purchase step... it says it's compatible with Windows Server 2008, so there's some reason to hope it'll work with W7 too... :)
