This update, Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3037581). has been trying to install automatically since April 15. I noticed my homepage wouldn't load properly and my favorite links were very slow to load. Everything else on my computer worked fine. After checking for malware, etc, I finally called my IT resource and he fixed it remotely after about 40 minutes. I inquired if this happened because of anything I'd done and he said no. Apparently, the update had installed but in the wrong location. This morning, the update tried to install again but I turned it off. Have any of you heard or experienced something like this? If so, how do I keep it from happening again?

Hello Mike I see you have had a quite a few views mate and I am no expert but in my simple mind if the updates are being put intothe worng place as you say then maybe you need to run these to check the system per 'se
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

if those do no good then these

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

This is just to eliminate things and I am not promising anything.

Thank you, ICIT2LOL,

I run Super Anti Spyware, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Iolo's System Mechanic daily and PC Matic weekly. They have found nothing and my IT team says my machine is clean. (I very rarely have any issues with my Dell XPS.) Anyway, the Microsoft update has tried to load a couple of more time but I've stopped it. As the computer is performing flawlessly, I'll consider this issue solved.

Thank you for answering.

Mike

IMHO, System Mechanic is the likely cause of many of your problems. It's little better than malware.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

I have to agree with Noel mate those programs like that and many others are really not much chop and I think you will find no two programs like that will give you the same results.

For example if one finds 200 faults the other will find 350 and completely different issues so personally I think you are better off without them. My partner for another example had one of those PC maximization programs and frankly the stuff it came up with was just pathetic but like many others she was convinced it was doing the machine good when in actual fact it made it run worse.
