M4V File Conversion?

I would like to be able to work with and utilize m4v video files, but I am having trouble converting them accurately to other formats. Programs like DRM Buster or Format Factory get around the DRM protection by playing back the video and recording the playback on your PC. I have not had great success with this method. The resulting mpg or avi video is often choppy, and the audio and video is usually out of sync. Also, if you happen to move the cursor or open another program while the file conversion is in process, this will be incorporated into the video. There has to be a more direct way to convert m4v to mpg or avi, doesn't there? Anyone have any ideas on this matter?

M4V files as you probably know are iTune Apple files. The rules are
"To play a protected M4V file, your computer must be authorized (using iTunes) with the account that was used to purchase the video."
Is you PC authorized?

Then you save that recording to a video format. This is not converting the original file. Also I note from your previous thread on this same subject that you have tried changing the file extension of your files but this is only effective with non protected files. You cannot change the file extension of a protected file. Well you can change the title but it wont work!

I thought that my post was clear, but judging from your reply, I can see that it wasn't. Allow me to reiterate. I want to convert m4v to other formats in order to work with them. Yes, obviously these are iTunes videos. I PAID FOR THEM on iTunes. They are DRM rotected. The only software that I can find to "convert" the m4v files does this by playing back the video on the PC and recording the playback. Yes, obviously this is not converting the original file. That is the problem. My post was all about a more direct conversion process. Is that any clearer?

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded and installed AVS Converter. But when I try to import an m4v file I get the error message that the file is protected. Therein lies the rub...

But according to what I downloaded before viz:
"To play a protected M4V file, your computer must be authorized (using iTunes) with the account that was used to purchase the video."
And you have done this then I can only assume that you cannot convert a Apple iTune protected file to an editable format for a Windows PC. I don't know but is there no info on this problem on the Apple website of do they have a Forum?

"Your computer must be authorized (using iTunes) with the account that was used to purchase the video." I have a vaild iTunes account that I have been using to purchase mostly videos from. Is this all there is to this "authorization"? Or am I missing something? Like I said, I tried to import an m4v into the AVS converter, but the file would not even import, giving me the error missage that the file is protected. If you think that it should work, I can try it again. I am not aware of any Apple forum, but it seems that there should be one out there...

I have finally had some success in this M4V conversion issue. I upgraded my iTunes to the very latest version, then installed a program called AVCLabs M4V Converter. This program cost me 39 bucks but it got the job done. It actually converts the M4V file directly, without any playing back and recording of the file like other video conversion programs. You have to have a valid iTunes program and account set up on your PC for this to work. This is where the "authorization" comes in. Thanks again for your assistance.
