MAC Virtual Machine Windows 7 Activation

I guess that few of you have ever experienced this problem, certainly Microsoft themselves were of no help so I am looking for other insights and sincerely would appreciate any constructive comments from anyone who's walked this path before.

Last year I bought a Macbook Pro to replace my ailing HP laptop. Unfortunately many of the applications that I relied on (MS project, visio, et al) would not work on Mac. I decided to migrate my windows install from the HP to the Mac using VMware. The migration worked fine using vmware's utilities and I was all set. As expected, windows started complaining that it was no longer genuine but provided an option to "Get Genuine Now" which took me to a Microsoft website which downloaded some small piece of software, figured out which license I needed to buy and after paying the required amount, got my new key and duly authorized my license.

Everything was fine and problem free for about 3 months or so at which point Windows again started reporting that it was not genuine. I contacted Microsoft who confirmed that I had an invalid license key, despite my email confirmations proving that i had just purchased it. The email receipt was of no value to anyone. They suggested I buy yet another license key, which I certainly did not see any value in doing as UI had already paid for one.

Anyway the system is now reporting that it cannot activate and is telling me I only have a couple of days left.

Any pointers on how to recover this? I mean I legitimately purchased a new key from Microsoft, registered it, all using Microsoft's own utilities and pages... but their attitude is just "go away and stop bothering us", no interest in trying to help.

Anyway, like I said... all constructive suggestions welcome

Hi Swahull, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You have bought a valid Microsoft Windows 7 licence directly from Microsoft and have the confirmation email & receipt to prove it. If this your situation and the phone support of Microsoft or Microsoft Store are of no help, there's IMO only one reasonable thing to do: contact Microsoft using their Microsoft Community, former Microsoft Answers.

Posting this in right section increases your possiblities to get direct help from MS staff. In your case the correct section would be Microsoft Community: Install, Upgrade and Activate.

As a personal rule of mine I do normally not guide other members to other forums for help but in this case I honestly think it would be your best shot.

Many thanks Keri, I will certainly check that out. Definitely was a legitimate license direct from Microsoft. I appreciate your suggestion.

Before doing it, try the Phone Activation Method as described in this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18715-activate-windows-7-phone.html

Quite often the Phone Activation works when everything else has failed.

You might also post the MGADIAG report, which can point out underlying issues that might be causing the activation message.
